POONAM BAIRY EXPERIENCE AT GRMI

We asked a handful of our students to reflect on their time at GRMI so far and to answer a few questions we put to them. We hope that this series of Q&A gives you a sense of who they are and what they think of the institute. We hope it also provides a window into their academic and extracurricular lives. They all share a common love for GRMI, student experience, and a shared desire to make a difference in the world.

My experience at GRMI

Poonam Bairy, PGDRM Jan’22-23

    1. What’s it like to be a part of the GRMI community?
      – – Every day is new and being a part of the GRMI community, I got into the habit of tackling situations on the spot (say meeting deadlines, working on knowledge sessions projects, exams, etc). The fact that we can approach faculties and discuss any queries, general stuff, is what I like a lot. Got to learn how to work in a team and what’s the way ahead in a career in risk management in India.
    2. How did the admissions process go for you?
      – – It went pretty well. I had to go through 2 rounds of interviews and prior to that submit an online application. The interview for PGDRM was like any other professional course in India.
    3. Why should one pursue a career in risk management?
      – – It gives a holistic view of the business and one gets to work on risk mitigation, strategy, and controls. It’s always in demand in corporate houses and other industries and it has good growth and learning prospect.
    4. What factors influenced your decision to enroll in this programme?
      – – PGDRM is very similar to a one-year MBA program or can say a mini MBA but it requires no entrance exam or competitive exam score for enrolment. It is a job-oriented short-term course with an impressive placement record, also learning from the industry experts themself, flexible approach (I got to learn how to tackle any situation on the spot).
    5. How would you define the GRMI faculty?
      – – Well versed with their subject knowledge, and practical experience in the industry.
    6. What is the most efficient method of getting to the institute?
      – – Command on communication, confidence, and willingness to get into the institute.
    7. After class, what is your favorite thing to do?
      – – Workout/work on research topics/read.
    8. In five years, where would you like to see yourself?
      – – In five years, I see myself having a holistic view of businesses, improved auditing skills, communication skills, analytical skills, working with a team, and actually contributing that could impact the key areas. Also, I see myself clearing certifications as per the requirement of my job profile for further enhancement in my career in risk management.
    9. What is the best way to summarize the enrollment process?
      – – It’s pretty convenient and comprehensive. Filling in the application form and interview process.
    10. What types of extra-curricular activities do you do on campus?
      – – Play table tennis, foosball, and active participation in all the events that happen in the institute.
    11. What drew your attention to the course and the institute?
      – – To get to learn from industry experts, get practical exposure and learning related to subject matter a and good placement package.
