Why did I switch my career from Banking to Risk Management?

Myself Arijit Sarkar from Kolkata, and I am currently a Post Graduate Diploma in Risk Management (PGDRM) student at GRMI, Gurgaon. Before joining this institute, I was working as an Assistant Manager of a leading private bank in India. While I was in my working tenure, my Branch Manager and Operations Head provided me the exposure to understand the different ‘risks’ like credit risks, market risks, interest rate fluctuation risks, foreign exchange risks, etc. that the banks face on an everyday basis. This acted as a catalyst and instigated me to deeply understand what ‘Risks the different industries are exposed to.

This is when GRMI came in. Joining GRMI provided me the opportunity of exploring the business models of organizations across industries and understand the importance of risk management in every sector. Interacting with the top-notch industry leaders, CXOs, and risk professionals all across the globe through GRMI is embedded in the curriculum of the institute. The faculties of GRMI are amazing and handheld me to get a birds-eye view of every industry.

The field of Risk Management is versatile, very exciting, and really installs a new angle of viewing the different aspects of a business. PGDRM from GRMI provides an edge, as the curriculum is also designed by industry experts and I am happy that I took the right decision of pursuing a career in Risk Management and joining GRMI at the right time.
