About Mr. Vinod Rao

Mr. Vinod Rao is working with Indus Towers, presently as the National Business Finance Controller, and was also doubling up as Acting – Chief Financial Officer till January 2020; prior to which he was the Chief of Internal Audit at Assurarice in Indus.

• He has ~24 years of post-qualification experience in Operational Finance, Treasury, Internal Controls, Audit, Statutory Audit, Management Accounting, and Reporting.
• He was a General Manager, Financial Controls at BP Lubricants globally, based out of Mumbai.
• Prior to this, he was the Head-Internal Audit with Castrol India Ltd., a subsidiary of BP PIc. in Mumbai.
• He has spent 8 years with KPMG as part of its Internal Audit and IFS practice.

About the session

Mr. Vinod Rao, National Business Finance Controller at Indus Towers conducted a leadership session on “ERM framework in the Telecom Sector”. The discussion focused on the need for a robust ERM framework across companies and sectors and stressed the need for proactiveness on part of companies to adapt and react better.

The speaker through his rich experience also stressed the need for developing key skills to navigate a successful career. The speaker shared instances from his experience which became a source of learning for the students and helped to draw parallels with their curriculum learnings. The speaker also highlighted the importance of networking in a corporate setup and how important it is to maintain a strong work ethic.

The session was thoroughly driven by questions from the students where Mr. Rao gave numerous educative examples to answer the questions.
